I decided to modify the packing on my silencer since it's leaked tons oil on my swing arm. Discovered it looks similar the previous owner(due south) hadn't ever repackaged the silencer. The carbon build up is crazy. I've been having to poke out the holes in the core bc they were then chock-full. I'chiliad like 60% thru only it'due south taking forever. Can I soak it in anything to actually get that deposit off? Also, I can only assume in that location's every bit much in the piping as there is in the silencer. Is there something I tin can soak that in also? I'm not going to burn whatsoever of this stuff off. I demand a solvent. Anyone have success? It's an fmf pipage and possibly an fmf silencer off a utilize 99' CR250 I bought.Photo

What about using an ultrasonic cleaner? Would save a lot of elbow grease.

Where would you go to have that done? What kind of solvent would you use with it? I can't imagine direct up water being that swell for the pipe and silencer unless I could dry out the insides with compressed air or something.

Information technology would probably be a instance of taking the pipe to someone for them to do it. The bad affair with that....it costs coin. At least elbow grease is free. lol. Best fashion to see what it's about is accept a peek on youtube. You tin get some very impressive results.

Yous could always find some sort of nasty kitchen cleaning products like caustic soda, however I'm not certain how kindly the bicycle parts would take to the stuff.

I've used kerosene and small peastone or gravel on a 2 stroke pipage. Do it over and over.

Get-go time you start the bike up make sure you lot get it skilful and hot.

Get a couple of cans of Yamaha combustion sleeping accommodation cleaner, spray the inside of the pipe and silencer heavily, let it soak for an hour or 2. Then pressure launder.

Stride 1: clean massive amounts of carbon from pipe and muffler.

Step 2: Use Castor ii-stroke oil cu'z information technology smells bitchin.

Step 3: Repeat step 1 many times.

(Notation: If using synthetic oil skip stride three and just go on riding and having fun non cleaning massive amounts of carbon)

Has this worked pretty well for you? Cheers for the suggestion.

Out of curiously, why won't you burn down the carbon build upward off?

What are you going to repack the silencer with?

Fire and wire brush it off the silencer. Utilise a plumbers gas torch.
Apply the gas torch to burn downwardly the pipe. When information technology gets hot and starts smoking put some light compressed air down the pipage. Don't do this in your garage or anywhere in that location is a possibility of fire.

Why non have your girl-Friends little brother clean your bike while your inside doing the deed then come out in time to see the hose shoved in the silencer, h2o spewing out of the air box then him proverb " Information technology's finally make clean, the h2o was black for a long time simply now it's make clean" ! UGH!

If you desire to soak it, mineral spirits should eat away those deposits with some a piffling scrubbing, merely brand damn sure its dry out before you pack it back up. If y'all want to endeavour to clean it with a stiff brush, spot clean it with contact cleaner or brake cleaner. If you lot've got the good stuff, those deposits should come off nicely and information technology won't exit any residuum.
